Muffin Tin Monday - no theme

It's Muffin Tin Monday! The theme for this week is Let's-Grab-Whatever's-Easy-So-We-Are-Not-Late-For-Kindy. :o)

Here is The Muffin's lunch:-

Top Row: String cheese; Petit Miam (teeny pot of fromage frais); Small cupcake
Bottom Row: Salami sandwich; Grapes; Salami sandwich.

The After Shot:
The Petit Miam was a resounding success - this is the first time we have bought these, and they're really yummy. Tastes like a cross between yoghurt and icecream. It does have added sugar in it, and I don't generally buy sweetened things for The Muffin's snacks. The trouble is, I have found it completely impossible to find any kind of yoghurt that isn't sweetened, to send as a snack for her to Kindy. What is it that makes these companies think our preschoolers need sugar in their yoghurt???? I don't get it. The yoghurt we normally buy (which is not sweetened, and it's delicious) does not come in a small tub, and I'm not sure how watertight her lunchbox is, so I think prepackaged is safest. Anyway, the good thing is that this isn't exactly just yoghurt, so we can still preserve that difference in her mind. And I guess once in a while as a treat it's not going to kill her.

I just use small watertight containers to send yogurt in our lunches. KidsKonserve makes some really good ones, but they're spendy. Tupperware makes small containers. Even the Take N Toss ones from anywhere (Target, Toys R Us, Fred Meyer, etc) should work. You can make most almost-watertight containers perform better by covering the bowl with a little cling wrap or wax paper before putting the lid on. And I also think the Kinderville food storage jars are watertight, but I'll test that when mine arrive! They're also easy for kids to open, supposedly.

The muffin tin liners you used are very pretty. It makes the meal look even more inviting!

This meal looks wonderful. I would have had the cupcake first.

Ludicrous Mama - thanks for the ideas. The trouble with small containers is that the watertight ones generally have lids that my daughter can't open, and the ones she can open tend not to be watertight. I might try that cling wrap trick... Really it's not the biggest deal though - I can just save her yoghurt snack for when she gets home. It's more the principle that irritates me - the fact that you can buy yoghurt without sugar in it, but NOT for kids.
Harvest Moon - thanks!
JDaniel4's Mom - hee hee - I actually think it's really funny that my girl is so well trained that that option literally never occurs to her! :o)

Cute lunch! I like your muffin tin liners. I can't believe how much sugar is in a lot of what we eat!
